Brian Reich : Client bought a laptop running Vista Home Premium x64, has devices required for his business that do *dot* support 64-bit architecture. Would like either an XP Pro 32-bit downgrade or Vista Home Premium 64-bit.

Brian Reich : The serial number of the laptop is "**********"
Brian Reich : And the part number of ***-*****
****** **** : May I also have the Product Number p/n also?
Brian Reich : sure one moment
****** **** : Sure.
Brian Reich : ************
****** **** : Thank you for the infortion.
****** **** : Could you elaborate the issue for me, Brian?
Brian Reich : A client of mine recently bought this laptop for his business, ******************. He intended to use the laptop in the field to test his patient's hearing and hearing aids, therefore he has a variety of devices that connect via USB and Bluetooth to the laptop
****** **** : Okay.
Brian Reich : Unfortunately the manufacturers of these devices do not yet support 64-bit architecture
Brian Reich : So the laptop is useless unless HP could provide us with a downgrade to a 32-bit version of Vista or XP
****** **** : Okay.
****** **** : So, as I understand, the customer had bought a notebook of 64 bit but he wants to downgrade it to 32 bit as some of the devices are not working, am I right?
Brian Reich : that is exactly right
****** **** : Okay.
Brian Reich : and the laptop is a quality machine, so we're trying to avoid exchanging it for something with 32-bit hardware
****** **** : Okay.
****** **** : Please give me few minutes as I go through my resources.
****** **** : But Brian, HP do not recommend downgrading /upgrading the Operating System. HP support only the pre-installed Operating System.
Brian Reich : I can deal with not having HP Support for the system
Brian Reich : So long as there are 32-bit drivers available for the hardware I will handle the rest
Brian Reich : I just need the OS
****** **** : But if it is required, you can downgrade it.
Brian Reich : Will HP let us exchange the pre-installed OS for the 32-bit equivalent?
****** **** : HP will not exchange the pre-installed OS but you need to get the installation CD from the Microsoft.
Brian Reich : OK
Brian Reich : any idea whom I contact at Microsoft about that?
****** **** : Please go to the Microsoft.Com and look for it. I am sure you will find it there.
Brian Reich : i see
