About Reich Consulting
Reich Consulting is a small computer support and repair business owned by Brian Reich company located in Selinsgrove, Pennsylvania. We provide computer and network support services for individuals and small businesses in central Pennsylvania including hardware and software upgrades, technical support, troubleshooting, as well as website design and hosting.
History
Reich Consulting began in 2002 as a mere technicality: the LAN Administrator of SUN Area Career & Technology Center, a local vocational technical school, needed help managing his workstations. Brian Reich was given the job, but because of financial and political limitations he had to be hired as an independent contractor. Thus Reich Consulting was born. Since then I’ve taken on a number of local clients, been hired to do freelance programming work for companies outside of the area, and actually took a full time position at SUN in 2007. I work under the school’s LAN administrator and am responsible for all workstations, devices, and software on the network as well asĀ the school Intranet which I developed while working as a contractor. I will soon take over their website as well.
Skills and Services
I provide a variety of skills and services to my local customers. I specialize in creating dynamic, database-driven websites using open source software including Linux, Apache, PHP, Mysql, and PostgreSQL, and I also provide affordable hosting and management of these sites after they have been created. All websites that I create are written in 100% valid XHTML and CSS, and conform as closely to modern accessibility standards as possible. I also work with other open source packages including WordPress (the software used to manage this website) and Open Audit.
I am also skilled in PC and network maintenance. I consider myself an expert in PC maintenance and troubleshooting and have had great success in the past squashing PC bugs without the need for a damaging hard drive format. Few local repair shops can make that claim! If you need a PC repaired, a wireless router configured or secured, or an entire network specked out and setup for your small business, I have what it takes to meet your needs.
Mission Statement
In my years of computer consulting and managing a network of 300 users, 300 workstations, and 10 servers at my current employer, I’ve learned just how unproductive it can be to keep your knowledge to yourself. It has become my goal and the purpose of this blog to share what I know. Though I don’t consider myself an expert in many areas of computing I do know a thing or two, and I hope that I can help you to know them too.
